The Saskatoon Public Schools Foundation hosted a supper and art tour of Nutana Collegiate's permanent art collection in October of 2016. Bill Kapphahn, Saskatoon Public Schools Technology Consultant, Alison Robertson, Executive Director SPS Foundation, and George Rathwell, Director SPS Foundation and former SPSD Director, had a discussion about creating a virtual tour for guests and the general public. From that dialogue grew the concept of involving students in an authentic way to promote the collection, the school, the foundation and the division.
Shelley Hosaluk was approached in November, 2016 as a teacher at Nutana and a local artist; a working group was created to begin the project. With the help of Kara Helms, (SPSD Arts Education Consultant), a plan to cover the collection in phases was established. In this first phase, students were asked to create audio recordings and art critiques.
